Morgan Plus 4 was a Classic British Sports Car

The Morgan Plus 4 is a classic British sports car that was first introduced in 1950. It is a two-seater vehicle with a distinctive roadster body style, featuring a long hood and short deck. The Plus 4 was designed as an updated version of the Morgan 4/4, which had been in production since 1936.

The Plus 4 was powered by a 2.0 liter inline-four engine, which was capable of producing around 90 horsepower. It was available with either a manual or automatic transmission, and featured a traditional live rear axle and leaf spring suspension setup. The car had a top speed of around 90 mph, and was known for its agile handling and sporty performance.

It was first introduced at the 1950 London Motor Show, and quickly became a popular choice among sports car enthusiasts in Britain and around the world. It was produced continuously until 1969, with several updates and changes made to the design over the years.

One of the most notable updates to the Plus 4 came in 1955, when the car received a new, more powerful 2.5 liter engine. This new engine helped to improve the car’s performance and made it even more appealing to buyers.  We have a wonderful Morgan Plus 4 Picture in a Frame in our store.

Despite its popularity, the Plus 4 was not a particularly successful car from a commercial standpoint. It was a niche product, with relatively low production numbers compared to mass-market vehicles. However, it did have a loyal following of fans and enthusiasts, who appreciated its unique design and sporty driving characteristics.

Critics generally had positive things to say about the Plus 4. It was praised for its handling and performance, as well as its unique and timeless design. Many reviewers also noted the car’s excellent build quality and attention to detail, which helped to set it apart from other sports cars of the time.

The Plus 4 was most successful in its home market of Britain, where it had a strong following among sports car enthusiasts. It was also popular in other European countries, as well as in the United States and other parts of the world.

The Plus 4 made appearances in a number of movies and television shows over the years, including the James Bond film “Goldfinger” and the British TV show “The Avengers”. It was also featured in several popular car magazines and publications, helping to further increase its visibility and popularity.

Production of the Morgan Plus 4 came to an end in 1969, when the company decided to focus on other models. However, the car remains a beloved classic today, with many examples still on the road and a strong following among collectors and enthusiasts.
