The proverbial ‘Woolf in Sheep’s Clothing’ - This unassuming luxury car was in fact the fastest production saloon car of the 1970’s and was the direct lineal descendant of the earlier ’Sleeper’ or ‘Q’ car the Mercedes-Benz 350SEL 6.3 both using the engine garnered from the super luxury 600 Limousine so beloved by every self-respecting dictator. The 450SEL 6.9 was almost as expensive as a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow but far more spartan inside although the ubiquitous velour like everything else in this car was to the highest standard. Deservedly considered the ‘Best Car in the World’ when introduced and now a much sought after classic.
